If income increases maybe participation doesn’t matter? The Rugby Union data shows an interesting story.
“During the 2022/23 financial year, the largest share of the English Rugby Football Union’s (RFU) income came from hospitality catering, totaling 70.8 million British pounds. Meanwhile, ticketing made up the second largest share, with 48.4 million British pounds…In recent years, the number of individuals participating in rugby union in England has been on a general trend of decline, sinking to 196 thousand in 2022.” –
