Alix Stuart | 6ft 6 | Class of 2021

How did you get started playing basketball?

I have always been tall for my age but was extremely uncoordinated. Everyone told me I should play basketball because of my height. In seventh grade, my friends were going to join the team and I thought it would be fun. That first season was, whew, it was tough with my lack of coordination and experience, but it was an absolute blast. I loved being a part of the team and loved the new challenge of it. I never thought I would be able to make much of basketball, but I loved the sport and continued. Then at the end of sophomore year, I realized I could really continue through college and maybe even after. I absolutely love basketball, and I am so glad I decided to pursue it.

How long have you lived overseas? How would you describe your experience currently living in Malaysia?

I have lived overseas for almost 6 years in Malaysia. My experience living in Malaysia has been amazing. While it has been a rollercoaster with cultural adjustments and very different opportunities, relating to basketball especially, I could not imagine having lived anywhere else for these six years.

How would you describe your game and your strengths?

One of my huge strengths is my speed to move up and down the court. This is a huge advantage in being able to outrun bigger players and earn points that way.

How have you been preparing to transition your game/skills to the next level (college)?

My off-season training has been a huge part of my preparation and just overall improvement in my game with gaining strength and practicing. Before this summer, I spent a lot of time in my school gym with my dad.

What are you looking for in a college (both on and off the court)?

I want to be part of a team that is working toward big goals. The bigger the better! I want to help support and accomplish those goals and take them very seriously. I want to learn and grow in the game of basketball and with that said, I also want to go to a college that has very high academic standards where I can challenge myself and get a very good education.
